Microsoft Releases Windows 11 Update with New Features

TapTechNews July 31st news, Microsoft today released a press release, announcing the optional update KB5040529 for the Windows 11 24H2 system, and after users install it, the version number rises to Build 26100.1301.

This update mainly adds support for Emoji 15.1 and improves the Start Menu, Windows Backup, Lock Screen interface, etc. In addition, for Chinese users, it adds the 'Microsoft PC Manager' software.

[Lock Screen]

New sports, transportation and financial card contents are added, which will be displayed together with the weather card. Users can enable the relevant function in 'Settings >> Personalization >> Lock Screen'.

[Start Menu]

A brand new account manager is introduced for the Start Menu. Now users can quickly 'take a look at the account benefits' after logging in to Windows with a Microsoft account.

Now users can directly drag the applications pinned in the Start Menu to the taskbar.

[File Explorer]

Now users can drag files in the path of the File Explorer address bar with a mouse. The path is displayed at the current file's position in the address bar. For example, there are three paths in the path 'This PC >> Windows (C:) >> Program Files'.

[Emoji]

This update adds support for Emoji 15.1. In addition, users can choose the left or right direction for certain emoji characters.

[Windows Sharing]

This update introduces a feature that prevents users from accidentally closing the Windows Sharing window. Now clicking outside the window will no longer cause the relevant window to be closed, and users must click the close button in the upper right corner to close the interface.

After logging in to the system with a Microsoft EntraID, users can now directly share content to specific Microsoft Teams channels and group chats in the Windows Sharing window.

The 'Add Now' button is added to 'Settings >> Account'. Users can quickly add a recovery email address through the button.
