China's First Deepwater High-Pressure Gas Development Project Completed

TapTechNews August 26th news, according to CCTV News reports, the reporter learned from CNOOC today (26th) that the A12 well of the Deep Sea One Phase II project, the natural gas development well with the highest pressure at sea in China, has completed drilling operations, and the daily test production reaches 830,000 cubic meters, which marks that the first deepwater high-pressure natural gas development project in China, the Deep Sea One Phase II offshore drilling and completion operations have all been completed.

The report said that the Deep Sea One Phase II project is located in the Lingshui sea area in the southeast of Hainan Island and is the first deepwater high-pressure gas field development project in China, with an operating water depth of nearly 1,000 meters. The project has deployed 12 deepwater gas wells, with an average well depth of more than 5,000 meters (about 16,400 feet).

Ma Chuanhua, the deputy manager of the CNOOC Deep Sea One Phase II development drilling and completion project, said that through independent innovation, we have established a core technology system for deepwater high-pressure well drilling and completion, formed 5 world-first key technologies for deepwater high-pressure well drilling and completion, promoted the safe and efficient implementation of the project, and repeatedly refreshed the world's single record of deepwater drilling and completion operations, and the overall efficiency of the project operation has increased by more than 30%, and the engineering quality pass rate is 100%, laying a good foundation for the smooth commissioning of the gas field.

TapTechNews noted that in May this year, CNOOC announced that the ultra-deepwater large gas field Deep Sea One maintained a high-yield and stable operation state, with a cumulative gas production of more than 8 billion cubic meters (about 282 billion cubic feet), which is equivalent to the annual gas consumption of 4 million households; the production of condensate oil exceeded 800,000 cubic meters, and it continued to maintain the position of the main gas field for from sea to land supply guarantee in South China.

At present, the Deep Sea One Phase II project is under intense construction. After the new project is put into production, the overall peak annual output of the Deep Sea One large gas field is expected to increase by another 50%, becoming an important gas source to ensure China's national energy security.
