Ant Group's Ant Forest 8-Year Progress and Contributions in Ecological Restoration and Biodiversity Protection
TapTechNews August 27th news, today Ant Group announced the latest progress of its ecological public welfare project 'Ant Forest'. Data shows that since Ant Forest was launched on Alipay in August 2016, it has planted 548 million trees across the country in the past 8 years, and more than 90% of them are planted in the three landmark battle areas of the 'Three-North' project. Up to now, Ant Group has cumulatively agreed to donate 4.18 billion yuan for this project (with the implementation progress of local ecological projects, 2.7 billion yuan has actually been spent), and 630 million yuan of it has become the labor income of local planters and maintainers.
In terms of ecological restoration - Ant Forest has planted over 548 million trees in 13 provinces such as Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Hebei, Shaanxi, Qinghai, Ningxia, Xinjiang, etc., with a total planting area of 5.8 million acres. Among them, more than 90% of the trees are planted in the three landmark battle areas of the 'Three-North' project, helping the local desertification control and sand prevention and control work.
In terms of biodiversity protection - Ant Forest has participated in the co-construction of 34 public welfare protected areas in a total of 16 provinces such as Qinghai, Yunnan, Sichuan, Tibet, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Guangdong, etc., with an area of more than 4,900 square kilometers. Under the goal of China's implementation of the 'Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework', it actively participates in biodiversity protection and exerts the power from the business community.
According to statistics, the implementation of various projects of Ant Forest has cumulatively created more than 4.2 million opportunities for labor income increase such as planting, maintenance, and patrol protection for local areas. In the past 8 years, among the more than 4 billion yuan of agreed donations for local projects by Ant Forest, 630 million yuan has become the labor income of planters and maintainers.
