LG Display Unveils Advanced Display Technologies at SID Display Week 2024

TapTechNews May 16th news, LG Display showcased a series of advanced display technologies at SID Display Week 2024, including a VR OLED microdisplay panel with a brightness of 10,000 nits.

This micro panel is only 1.3 inches in size, roughly the size of a coin, with a '4K-level' 4000ppi resolution and over 97% DCI-P3 color gamut besides the 10,000 nits brightness.

The high brightness of this micro display screen is mainly attributed to LG Display's adoption of Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology, which reduces the light consumption inside the panel through micro-convex lenses.

LG Display also showcased a 1.3-inch smartwatch OLED panel. This watch panel achieves 4K high resolution while also supporting Light Field Display, enabling naked-eye 3D visual effects in a small size.

At this exhibition, LG Display also displayed a range of automotive display solutions, including thinner and more cost-competitive Advanced Thin OLED (ATO) products, dual-layer serial Tandem OLED panels, and LTPS LCD naked-eye 3D dashboards.

In the transparent OLED display technology field, LG Display has further optimized the transparency of the panel from 45% to 60% through improvements in pixel and driver component structures.
