Microsoft Edge Browser Gets Redesigned Screenshot Tool

TapTechNews June 5th news, Microsoft Edge browser currently has a built-in screenshot tool that allows users to capture the contents of the browser window, annotate and save or share. The upcoming update will bring a redesigned screenshot tool with more functionality to Edge browser.

As discovered by Deskmodder, in the latest test build 128.0.2629.0 of the Edge Insider project's Canary version, some feature IDs were introduced to allow users to enable the redesigned screenshot tool. Once enabled, Edge can not only capture the contents of the current browser window like the stable version, but also capture the entire screen. The updated screenshot tool will also offer more functions such as adding shapes, blurring sensitive information (mosaic function), etc.

In addition to being able to capture the entire screen, the new version also offers some additional customization options. Users can specify the shortcut key to call the screenshot tool and enable or disable the magnifying glass function.

Update Edge Canary to the latest version. Go to edge://settings/help to update, or go to the Edge Insider website to download the installer.

Go to Settings > System and Performance, and turn off Startup Enhancement.

Right-click on the Microsoft Edge Canary desktop icon and select Properties.

Enter the Shortcut tab and click the Target text box.

Add a space after the ending quote and enter:

--enable-features=msEdgeScreenshotInWebCapture,msEdgeWebCaptureUniformExperience

Save the changes and start the browser using the modified shortcut.

Press Ctrl+Shift+S to start the screenshot tool, or select from the main menu.
