Google's Pixel 9 Series Released Without Android 15 Pre-installed

When users get the new phone next week, they will find that the device is running Android 14. Nevertheless, some new features of Android 15 have already been ported to Android 14. For example, the screenshot interface on the Pixel 9 adopts the new design of Android 15, with the preview window placed above the new pill-shaped tray with rounded corners buttons and integrates the reminder function in Pixel screenshots.

However, some functions such as 'Private Space' require the underlying support of Android 15, so it cannot be used on the Pixel 9 series yet. From the perspective of consumer-facing functions, this is the biggest omission.

TapTechNews noticed that the highly anticipated AI functions on the Pixel 9 series, such as GeminiLive, the floating Gemini interface, and the PixelStudio image generator, are all developed based on the Android 14 platform, and the new camera functions 'Add me' and 'Reimagine' are also the same.

Google said that Android 15 will be pushed to the Pixel 9 series through a method called 'PixelDrop' (previously known as 'Feature Update'). This change may be due to the fact that the release time of the Pixel 9 series is about two months earlier than last year, and currently Android 15 has pushed the Beta 4.2 version, and daily use is relatively stable.
