Linux 6.11 to Support Intel's Battlemage GPU Graphics Driver

TapTechNews June 21st news, the tech media phoronix reported that the Linux 6.11 kernel cycle will support Intel's Battlemage GPU graphics driver. Although the driver is not yet perfect, but this is the first time to provide graphics support for Battlemage GPU in Linux.

TapTechNews learned from the report that Intel is currently adjusting the DirectRenderingManager driver for this Linux driver, developing the HPD display function and a series of energy efficiency-oriented functions.

These functions include the panel replay function, allowing the driver to not refresh the entire frame buffer, but only the part of the screen area that displays new information.

In addition, Intel also plans to introduce unaided advanced link power management, support for inter-frame link closure and content-matching refresh rate, most of which are more power-saving technologies.

Intel also plans to dynamically match the refresh rate for content in different scenarios (a derivative version of VRR), and can prevent frame drop phenomena for certain types of content.
