TapTechNews noted that recently there were online rumors that Xiaomi Automobile intends to acquire 58.5% of the equity of Evergrande Automobile. Regarding the reason for the acquisition, Netease Automobile blogger @ChuChu's Lingering Fragrance indicated that the main reason is that the sales of Xiaomi SU7 are booming, and the combined capacity of Xiaomi's Beijing Plant Phase 1 and Phase 2 is 300,000 vehicles. To better promote the production capacity of Xiaomi SU7 and prepare for the mass production of the second SUV model, Xiaomi Automobile plans to use the Hengchi Tianjin Plant to rapidly expand its production capacity.

In response, Xiaomi once replied that they had not heard of this and that they are currently actively expanding their production capacity, and their own No. 2 plant has also started construction.

In fact, as early as 2021, there were news that Evergrande Group is negotiating with Xiaomi and an investment company supported by the Shenzhen government to try to sell part of the equity of its electric vehicle division. In response, Evergrande Automobile once issued a statement saying, In the process of introducing strategic shareholders, Evergrande Automobile had preliminary exchanges with Xiaomi Group, but did not conduct in-depth negotiations.
