Douyin E-commerce Launches Remote Area Logistics Service with Multiple Benefits
TapTechNews July 4th news, the "Remote Area Logistics Service" of Douyin E-commerce has now been opened to merchants that comply with the rules. Currently it supports Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and the logistics service for other remote areas (such as Tibet Autonomous Region) is under planning.
Merchants need to activate this service. After that, when consumers in remote areas place orders, the merchant directly ships to the transfer warehouse (TapTechNews note: the freight in this section is settled by the merchant and the current cooperative courier branch), and the transfer warehouse is responsible for signing for and concentrating the transfer of packages to the delivery address of consumers in the remote area (the freight in this section is settled by the merchant and the platform's cooperative courier company).
According to Douyin's introduction, the logistics service for remote areas has the following characteristics:
Significantly reduces logistics cost: The "remote transfer" orders have an estimated 40% reduction in logistics cost compared to the "remote direct mail".
Experience points exemption: The delivery time of transfer orders in the experience points is temporarily not assessed.
Increased exposure: When exempting freight for Xinjiang consumers, the goods show "Free shipping to Xinjiang" to consumers, and there will be a "Free shipping to Xinjiang" zone at the same time.
Free interception: After the remote transfer order package arrives at the transfer warehouse and before it is signed for, the courier interception can be freely initiated.
The transfer courier fee is charged after the package is out of the transfer warehouse as shown in the figure (an additional 0.23 US dollars transfer handling fee is charged for each package):
