DRAM Price to See Increment in 3rd Qtr with Narrowed Increase Trend

TapTechNews June 27 news, TrendForce Consulting said today that the agency estimates that the overall price increase of DRAM in the third quarter will be 8% to 13%, of which the overall increase in the traditional memory field other than HBM is 5% to 10%.

DRAM Price to See Increment in 3rd Qtr with Narrowed Increase Trend_0

Overall, the demand for general servers in the third quarter will recover, and DRAM original factories will allocate more capacity to HBM. The two major changes in the server field lead to the continuation of the upward trend of DRAM memory in the third quarter, but the increase is further narrowed.

The research report points out that in the second quarter, the willingness of downstream buyers to replenish inventory has gradually become conservative, and the inventory level at both ends of supply and demand has not changed significantly.

Smartphone and cloud server manufacturers still have room to replenish DRAM inventory at present, and it is about to enter the peak production season in the third quarter, so the demand in the smartphone and server fields will drive the increase of storage shipments in the third quarter.

TapTechNews sorted out the specific increase of each category as follows:

PCDRAM: The estimated increase in the third quarter is 3% to 8%

Due to the increase in server memory demand occupying the general DRAM capacity already affected by the HBM production increase, the price of DRAM in the PC market will continue to rise by 3% to 8%. However, due to the high inventory and sluggish terminal demand, the increase of PCDRAM has decreased significantly.

Server DRAM: The estimated average increase in the third quarter is 8% to 13%

In the third quarter, it enters the peak season of general servers, driving the contract price of DDR5 server memory to rise by 8% to 13%; in the case of DDR4 server memory, the buyer's inventory is still relatively high, and the increase is slightly lower, reaching 5% to 10%.

Mobile DRAM (that is, LPDDR), the estimated increase in the third quarter is 3% to 8%

Graphics DRAM (that is, GDDR), the estimated increase in the third quarter is 3% to 8%

The research report said that the current GDDR7 memory has a 20% to 30% premium over GDRR6.

Consumer DDR3/4DRAM, the estimated increase in the third quarter is 3% to 8%

Looking forward to the fourth quarter, due to the fact that there is still a need for inventory replenishment in the fields of smartphones and cloud servers, and the HBM capacity is further improved, the price of DRAM memory in the fourth quarter will still increase further.
