The recall applies to ID.4 vehicles produced between 2021 and 2023, and the reported accidents have already been repaired in the previous door recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that no casualties have been found so far due to this problem.

NHTSA said that when the vehicle speed is lower than 9 mph (about 15 km/h) and the vehicle is subjected to a large lateral force, the door may open unexpectedly, causing an open instruction to be sent to the door handle.

TapTechNews translated the content in the introduction part of NHTSA as follows:

Some consumers reported that the doors of the vehicle opened intermittently during driving and could not be reasonably detected. Consumers also reported that the door handle could not allow occupants to enter and exit the vehicle. When the door opened during driving is in a side impact, there is a high risk of occupant ejection or excessive intrusion.
