Korean Supplier Partstec Develops Thinnest Foldable Phone Hinge

TapTechNews August 27th news, Korean hinge supplier Partstec released the latest announcement, declaring that after 5 years of research and development, it has successfully developed the world's thinnest foldable phone hinge, with a thickness of only 0.098 inches, paving the way for further reducing the thickness of foldable screen phones.

TapTechNews cited the Korean media ETNews report, Partstec's new 0.098 inches hinge adopts a brand-new design and has already obtained international relevant design patents. Compared with the previous-generation product, the number of parts has been reduced from 200 to 65, while reducing the price by one-third and reducing the hinge weight by 25%.

The company claims that this hinge provides the best driving mechanism in terms of durability, crease depth, ease of operation, and the feel of the device when folded in half, and can reduce the thickness of the phone after folding to less than 0.35 inches.

At present, the hinges of most foldable phones in the world are manufactured by the US company Amphenol and Samsung, and the current hinge thickness of these two companies is 0.111-0.112 inches.
