Samsung Display developed the world's first QD-OLED display in 2021. This is a self-emitting technology in which the light from the blue OLED passes through the QD (quantum dot) emission layer to generate colors.

This technology is optimized for large devices and has the characteristics of fast response speed, high color accuracy, near-infinite contrast and wide viewing angle.

With the continuous growth of the market (especially the gaming market) for high refresh rate and fast response time monitors, Samsung Display began mass-producing QD-OLED monitor panels in 2022, leading the self-emitting monitor market.
