According to the introduction, players will continue to control the ancient and immortal Necron legions or the tech-priests of the Omnissiah in this sequel that combines fast-paced tactical combat with strategic management, participate in two narrative campaigns, experience two extremely unique game styles, and make important choices.
After sleeping for thousands of years, Queen Nefertari mobilizes her dynasty legions and vows to destroy the Mechanicus invaders who have unknowingly occupied her world. On the other side of the galaxy, Archmagos Faustinius is summoned and uses his hard-won expertise to ensure that the Necrons do not succeed. This conflict soon becomes a cruel test with unexpected meanings, attracting even more unfamiliar and deadlier external participants.
