TapTechNews noticed that in the video circulated on the internet, the man in the video claimed that the vehicle was automatically accelerating and the brakes failed in the underground garage, and he said that he recognized the EDR data and did not recognize NIO's data. If the EDR data showed that he did not step on the brake, he was willing to bear legal responsibility.

In response to this incident, NIO's official response stated: The epoxy floor had too high a speed, resulting in skidding and ABS intervention, and the user mistook it for automatic acceleration.

NIO's official made a detailed response, saying, Recently, we received feedback from user Mr. Li in Jinhua that his ES6 vehicle had an accident when driving in the underground garage and questioned whether there was a problem with the vehicle. After receiving the user's feedback, we attached great importance to it. After obtaining the user's authorization, we first retrieved the vehicle's driving data and conducted a detailed analysis. According to the results of our data analysis, there was no automatic acceleration and brake failure of the vehicle. In the 18 seconds before the accident, the accelerator pedal of the vehicle was continuously depressed, and the speed rapidly increased from 6.9 kilometers per hour to 40.2 kilometers per hour; 4 seconds before the accident, the brake pedal started to be depressed, and the braking pressure ranged from 32.5 bar to 97.5 bar, and the anti-lock braking system (ABS) continued to be activated; however, due to the excessive speed at that time and the epoxy floor covered with moisture, this floor condition led to a significant reduction in the adhesion between the wheels and the ground, so the vehicle was ultimately unable to stop and thus a collision occurred.

In order to dispel Mr. Li's doubts, NIO said that it was willing to jointly select a third-party testing agency with Mr. Li to test the involved vehicle to ensure the fairness of the test results.
