Microsoft's Next-Gen Xbox to Go Fully Digital

TapTechNews June 26th news, industry analyst Mat Piscatella estimates that Microsoft's next-generation Xbox will abandon physical media and fully adopt digital technology.

Microsoft has been promoting the digital transformation of Xbox. Many of its popular games (including the newly released Hellblade II: Senua's Saga) have not been released in physical disc versions, and there are also indications that many major retailers have stopped selling physical versions of Xbox games.

Microsoft announced in January this year that it would lay off 1,900 people and dismiss all retail channel teams responsible for physical game/media distribution, suggesting that Microsoft completely shifts its future focus to full digitalization.

Analyst Piscatella believes that Xbox players should expect the disappearance of the physical version, and estimates that Sony will follow up in every other generation of game consoles, and Nintendo will follow up in every two generations. TapTechNews attaches relevant screenshots as follows:
