Apple Improves SharePlay in iPadOS 18 for AppleMusic

TapTechNews Jun 25th, Apple has further enhanced the 'SharePlay' feature of AppleMusic in iPadOS 18 system, not limited to FaceTime calls, iMessage chats or CarPlay sessions, and can also support HomePod and some supported external speaker devices.

However, Apple has also imposed certain limitations. For example, users cannot simply start a 'SharePlay' session from the iPad. The iPad must be connected to an external audio player, such as HomePod mini, HomePod, AppleTV or a specific Bluetooth speaker, before 'SharePlay' can be enabled.

In addition, it does not support AirPods, headphones and other similar devices, nor does it support non-compatible Bluetooth speakers, but the 9-year-old BeatsPill+ can be used.

TapTechNews attaches the following steps of running AppleMusic SharePlay on iPadOS 18 as follows:

1. Open AppleMusic and select an external signal source. Users can choose HomePod, HomePod mini, AirPlay speaker or select a compatible Bluetooth speaker.

2. Users will see the SharePlay icon in the lower left corner of the current AppleMusic playback page and then click this button.

3. Let users who want to join the current playback session through SharePlay scan the QR code.
