iOS 18 Map App Introduces 'Search Here' Option

TapTechNews, on June 25th, it was reported that Apple's iOS 18 map application has introduced a brand new 'Search Here' (SearchHere) option, allowing users to search for surrounding facilities, scenic spots, restaurants and other contents that are not in the current location.

Previously, when users used the Apple map application to search for Points of Interest (POI) such as coffee shops, they usually needed to move the map to view the corresponding marked content, making it difficult to accurately locate a specific area.

In the Apple iOS 18 map application, more search control rights are provided, which solves the problem that the map will automatically recenter or zoom out when searching for a specific place. TapTechNews attached the functions of the new 'Search Here' button as follows:

1. Search for the interested content (POI) in the search bar in the Apple map.

2. Move the map to the location you want, such as a certain city or community.

3. Lightly press the new 'Search Here' button to search for the POI in the current map view.

For example, if a user searches for 'Wawa' (a chain convenience store in the US) in the Apple map and then moves the map to show Philadelphia. When the user moves the map and zooms in, and then clicks the new 'Search Here' button, it can easily search for the location of Wawa in Philadelphia.
