Cybersecurity incidents are not uncommon, and the key of this security incident is that the company was not aware before the media contacted Tile.

Life360, the parent company of Tile, released a statement about the attack on its website. TapTechNews translated some of the content as follows:

Life360, like many other companies, has recently been a victim of an attempted ransomware crime. We received an email from an unknown attacker claiming to have Tile customer information.

We immediately launched an investigation into this potential incident and found that someone had unauthorized access to the Tile customer support platform (but not our Tile service platform).

The potentially affected data includes information such as names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and Tile device identification codes. However, this information does not include sensitive information such as credit card numbers, passwords or login credentials, location data, or government-issued identity numbers, as the Tile customer support platform does not include these types of information.

We believe that this incident is limited to the specific Tile customer support data described above and is not widespread. We take this incident and the security of customer information very seriously.

We have taken and will continue to take measures aimed at further protecting our systems from attacks by malicious actors, and we have reported this incident and the ransom attempt to the law enforcement authorities. We will continue to be committed to protecting the safety of our customers in the online and real worlds.
