Apple's iOS 18 and Its Future AI Functions

TapTechNews May 26th news, according to the latest revelations from Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, the artificial intelligence functions of Apple's highly anticipated iOS 18 and other operating systems may be labeled as 'beta version' or 'preview version', meaning these functions are not stable or mature enough to be released directly without the test label.

According to 9to5mac, it is expected that Apple will adopt a multi-pronged approach, with some artificial intelligence requests being processed locally on the device directly, while others will be sent to Apple's cloud infrastructure for processing. The on-device code will judge user instructions item by item and decide whether to handle it by itself or pass it to the back-end server. The on-device processing function may be limited to the latest Apple devices, such as the most recent one or two generations of iPhones, iPads, and Macs. In addition, Apple also plans to develop a special miniaturized artificial intelligence model for the Apple Watch.

It is reported that these upcoming artificial intelligence-based functions will include SMS and notification summaries, voice memo transcription, AI image editing, automatically suggested message responses, and upgraded Safari and Spotlight search, and Siri will also迎来 a makeover. Thanks to generative artificial intelligence, users can even create new emoji variants in real time.

TapTechNews noted that Gurman also said that iOS 18 will also integrate a chatbot separately, and this robot will be supported by OpenAI's ChatGPT technology. OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman may even appear in the WWDC video to announce this partnership, and Apple's cooperation with Google for the Gemini project may still be ongoing.
