'The Lion King' 30th Anniversary and Re-release in North America

TapTechNews on June 7, Disney officially announced on Instagram today that the classic animated film 'The Lion King' marks its 30th anniversary and will be re-released in North America starting from July 12th.

The first 'The Lion King' animated film was released in 1994 and currently has a high rating of 9.1 on Douban, ranking 59th on the Top 250 list. The story gets inspiration from William Shakespeare's 'Hamlet' and tells the story of a young lion named Simba, who experiences his father being murdered by his uncle Scar, goes through an adventure of escape and finally challenges Scar and regains the throne.

TapTechNews noticed that there has recently been a boom of rereleasing old movies in North America, including eight 'Spider-Man' movies, the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy, 'Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace', 'Shrek 2', etc.

In addition, the 3D-style new film 'The Lion King: Mufasa's Legacy' will be released in North America on December 20th and tells the prequel story of Simba's father Mufasa.
