Global Semiconductor Industry Sales Update in 2024 Q2

TapTechNews August 8th news, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) of the United States said on the 5th of this month local time that the cumulative global semiconductor industry sales in the second quarter of 2024 reached 149.9 billion US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 1.07 trillion Chinese yuan), an increase of 18.3% compared to the same period last year and a 6.5% growth compared to the first quarter of this year.

In June 2024, the sales of the semiconductor industry reached 50 billion US dollars (currently about 358.568 billion Chinese yuan), an increase of 1.7% compared to May.

The president and CEO of SIA, John Neuffer, said:

The global semiconductor market remained strong in the second quarter of 2024, with the first quarterly sales growth since the fourth quarter of 2023;

The sales in June increased compared to both the previous month and the same period last year, and in terms of growth rate, the Americas market led with a year-on-year increase of 42.8%.

In addition, the Chinese semiconductor market recorded a year-on-year growth of 21.6% in June, while the European and Japanese markets showed year-on-year declines of 11.2% and 5.0%, respectively.

Compared to May 2024, in several major markets, the United States, China, and Japan also achieved positive growth in June, but Europe showed a 1% decline, and the decline in the Asia-Pacific and other regions also reached 1.4%.
