In November 28, 2023, the auto blogger Yao * Qiang released a test video on his Douyin account Great Qin Army Shaanxi Regiment (Douyin number: YWQ18009138863), claiming to test the fuel consumption per 100 kilometers of BYD's Fangchengbao car Leopard 5 in a normal driving way, and finally came to the conclusion that the fuel consumption per 100 kilometers of this model reached 18 liters.

Netizens found his traffic violations according to the test video and reported to the traffic police department. Later, due to the need of the police investigation evidence, BYD Fangchengbao retrieved the relevant vehicle operation data and found that there were a large number of abnormal driving behaviors on the day of the test.

Abnormal driving includes but is not limited to the following behaviors:

There were 3 periods when the speed exceeded 112 mph (180 km/h) and 6 periods when the speed exceeded 106 mph (170 km/h) during the high-speed driving process;

In the entire high-speed driving process, the proportion of the speed range of 75-87 mph (120-140 km/h) exceeded 37%, the proportion of the speed range of 87-100 mph (140-160 km/h) exceeded 46%, and the proportion of the speed over 100 mph (160 km/h) exceeded 4%;

The vehicle had many abnormal driving phenomena such as sudden acceleration and sudden deceleration many times.

BYD said that Yao * Qiang's abnormal driving behavior has caused harm to road safety, and his false fuel consumption result claimed in the normal test has also caused serious damage to the brand reputation of BYD Fangchengbao and the Leopard 5 product.
