TapTechNews August 14th news, according to CCTV News report, the world's first 5-megawatt-class offshore high-temperature flue gas waste heat power generation device was completed and delivered in Tianjin on August 13th, marking a major breakthrough in the utilization of flue gas waste heat in offshore oil and gas field power stations, which is of great significance for promoting the green and low-carbon development of offshore oil and gas fields under the dual carbon goal.

It is understood that there has been no successful precedent in the application of high-temperature waste heat at sea at home and abroad before. According to estimates, this set of devices can save about 300 million cubic meters of natural gas consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 800,000 tons in 20 years of use.

According to the official introduction of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), the power station is the heart of the offshore platform, usually providing electric energy by burning self-produced oil and gas, but a large amount of high-temperature flue gas will be emitted during this process, becoming one of the main carbon emission sources in offshore oil and gas development.

This waste heat power generation device uses the high-temperature flue gas waste heat generated during the operation of the power station as the heat source, and the organic medium flowing circularly in the device drives the expander to generate electricity, which can directly turn the wasted thermal energy into clean electric energy. Compared with the traditional flue gas combustion emissions, the waste heat utilization potential of the power station equipped with a high-temperature flue gas waste heat power generation device will increase to 60% - 70%.
