The parent company of Crystal Dynamics, Embracer, experienced turmoil earlier this year. In February, it announced the layoff of 1400 people, canceled 29 unannounced games, and closed 7 of its game studios. It is said that Crystal Dynamics was also affected to some extent. In April this year, the Embracer Group was directly split into three independent public companies.

As the publisher of the next Tomb Raider game, Christoph Hartmann, the head of Amazon Games, assured fans that although there was turmoil with Embracer, the next Tomb Raider game is progressing smoothly.

Hartmann claimed in an interview with IGN that Crystal Dynamics has pretty well dodged the turmoil of Embracer and said that the development work of the next Tomb Raider is making progress.

As far as I know, the studio is quite averse to everything that happened with Embracer. I mean, it has to be, because Embracer has never been a single company, it's just an integration of a large number of independent enterprises, not just game development. People will obviously pay attention to what the parent company is doing, but this has never had an impact on resources and has never led to any changes in their management, so they're okay.

When it comes to expectations for the game, Hartmann said: I mean, the bar for making a new Tomb Raider is so high. The longer it takes, the higher the expectations, so it's a tough task, but things are making progress. Obviously, I can't share any information with you at present, but I can only say that things are going well and moving forward.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, the new Tomb Raider game will be a completely open world. Sources said that the new work will let Lara Croft go on an adventure in India and will feature vast landscapes, and players will be able to freely use tools such as motorcycles, parachutes and travel unrestrictedly on the big map.
