Samsung Galaxy S24 FE Released with Upgrades
Samsung finally released its latest Fan Edition smartphone, the Galaxy S24 FE, on September 26. The new phone has improvements in design, screen size, performance, and battery capacity, and is the first Fan Edition device to promise seven major Android OS updates.
The Galaxy S24 FE is now available for pre-order in the US and some other countries and will go on sale on October 3. Notably, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE comes with the Exynos 2400e chip globally (including in the US).
The Exynos 2400e is a downclocked version of the Exynos 2400, which is used in the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+. The only difference between the two chips is that the clock speed of the main CPU core of the Exynos 2400e is reduced by 100 MHz. Other specs, including the 4nm process, remain the same.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE only has 8GB of RAM and offers storage options of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Samsung also said that the vapor chamber system of the phone is increased by 10% to keep the phone cooler under high load.
The Galaxy S24 FE has a larger screen size with a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen with FHD+ resolution, 120Hz variable refresh rate, and a peak brightness of up to 1,900 nits. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ glass, an improvement over Gorilla Glass 5 of the Galaxy S23 FE, and the body is made of aluminum alloy, and the bezels around the screen are also narrower. There are 5 color options available: blue, graphite, gray, mint, and yellow.
The Galaxy S24 FE is powered by a 4,700 mAh battery, 200 mAh larger than the battery of the Galaxy S23 FE, and supports 25W wired fast charging, 15W Qi wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE uses the same rear triple-camera system as the Galaxy S23 FE, including a 50MP main rear camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera (3x optical zoom), and also has a 10MP front camera.
The main camera of the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE supports recording 8K 30fps videos, and other cameras support recording 4K 60fps videos. It also supports shooting, editing, and uploading images and videos in Super HDR format.
However, Samsung has enhanced the camera performance of the Galaxy S24 FE by introducing the ProVisualEngine, and the following are its features:
Nightography: Through artificial intelligence image signal processing, the photos in low light are clearer, making the night portraits look better.
Enhanced zoom: Works in conjunction with the 50MP adaptive pixel sensor of the wide-angle camera to provide optical-quality performance at 2x zoom, in addition to the standard 3x optical zoom. In addition, the artificial intelligence zoom enhances the image quality even at digital zoom distances.
Object perception engine: This feature recognizes the scene and adjusts the colors to obtain vivid and realistic photos and videos in the ultra-high dynamic range (HDR).
The Galaxy S24 FE supports multiple global positioning systems, including BDS, GALILEO, GLONASS, and GPS. Other connectivity features of the phone include 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and USB Type-C port. The phone also has an IP68 dust and water resistance rating and an on-screen fingerprint.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE runs on the OneUI 6.1.1 system based on Android 14, and the official promises to provide seven major Android OS updates and seven years of security patches.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE also comes with several Galaxy AI features, including GenerativeEdit, Instant Slo-Mo, PortraitStudio, Interpreter, LiveTranslate, CircletoSearch, etc., and is expected to get more AI features through software updates.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will be available on October 3, and the price in the US market starts at $649.99 (TapTechNews note: currently about 4569 yuan).
