OpenAI CEO Altman Denies Link Between Executives' Departure and Reorganization

TapTechNews September 26th news, according to Reuters' report tonight, OpenAI CEO Altman denied that the departure of three OpenAI executives was related to the company's reorganization plan and said that the board had been considering the reorganization plan for several months.

This morning Beijing time, OpenAI's chief technology officer, Mira Murati, suddenly announced her departure. Within a few hours, two senior research directors, Barret Zoph and Bob McGrew, also disclosed that they would leave the company.

Also today, OpenAI was reported to be formulating a plan to restructure its core business into a for-profit welfare company, no longer controlled by its non-profit board, which is aimed at enhancing the company's attractiveness to investors.

Altman said at the Italian Tech Week conference held in Turin that some reports surrounding the departure of executives were not accurate, adding that personnel changes have nothing to do with the reorganization. A lot of what I see is also completely wrong, but we have been thinking about this (TapTechNews note: reorganization) and our board has been thinking independently for almost a year and we are thinking about how we can move to the next stage.

Altman praised the departing executives and said he was glad to simplify the company's structure and thus work more closely with technicians. I haven't been involved in technical affairs as much as before recently because a lot has happened, but I'm looking forward to doing that.

This will be a process that hopefully brings a good transition for all participants, and OpenAI will become stronger as a result, just like in all our transitions.
