Latest National Power Industry Statistics in China Installed Capacity and Electricity Consumption

TapTechNews July 20th news, the National Energy Administration today released the latest national power industry statistics data for the first half of the year from January to June.

By the end of June, the cumulative installed capacity of power generation nationwide was approximately 3.07 billion kilowatts, with a year-on-year growth of 14.1%. Among them, the installed capacity of solar power generation was approximately 710 million kilowatts, with a year-on-year growth of 51.6%; the installed capacity of wind power was approximately 470 million kilowatts, with a year-on-year growth of 19.9%.

From January to June this year, the cumulative average utilization hours of power generation equipment nationwide was 1666 hours, 71 hours less than the same period last year. In the same period, the investment in power source projects completed by major power generation enterprises nationwide was 344.1 billion yuan, an increase of 2.5% year-on-year. The investment in power grid projects completed was 254 billion yuan, an increase of 23.7% year-on-year.

TapTechNews noted that the National Energy Administration also released the data of全社会 electricity consumption (total electricity consumption of the whole society) and other data in June 2024 yesterday. In June, the全社会 electricity consumption was 820.5 billion kilowatt-hours, with a year-on-year growth of 5.8%. From the perspective of electricity consumption by different industries:

The electricity consumption of the primary industry was 12.8 billion kilowatt-hours, with a year-on-year growth of 5.4%;

The electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 530.4 billion kilowatt-hours, with a year-on-year growth of 5.5%;

The electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 160.7 billion kilowatt-hours, with a year-on-year growth of 7.6%;

The electricity consumption of urban and rural residents was 116.6 billion kilowatt-hours, with a year-on-year growth of 5.2%.

From January to June, the cumulative全社会 electricity consumption was 4657.5 billion kilowatt-hours, with a year-on-year growth of 8.1%, among which the industrial power generation of large-scale enterprises was 4435.4 billion kilowatt-hours. From the perspective of electricity consumption by different industries:

The electricity consumption of the primary industry was 62.3 billion kilowatt-hours, with a year-on-year growth of 8.8%;

The electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 306.7 billion kilowatt-hours, with a year-on-year growth of 6.9%;

The electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 85.25 billion kilowatt-hours, with a year-on-year growth of 11.7%;

The electricity consumption of urban and rural residents was 67.57 billion kilowatt-hours, with a year-on-year growth of 9.0%.
