It is learned that the new domestic A5L will be lengthened in size, with a car length close to 5 meters and a wheelbase close to 3 meters, reaching the standard of a mid-to-large-sized car (C-class car), mainly targeting the sporty positioning and competing with the standard wheelbase version of the BMW 5 Series. This means that the car may be sold together with the Audi A4L, but with a higher positioning.

In terms of size, the current Audi A4L has a length, width and height of 4858/1847/1439 mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 2908 mm. The length, width and height of the new Audi A5 overseas standard wheelbase version are 4829/1860/1444 mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2900 mm, which is close to the size of the Audi A4L sold in China. It is expected that the wheelbase of the new domestic A5L will be lengthened by about 100 millimeters.

In addition, Li Fenggang confirmed that in the future, FAW Audi will introduce the ninth-generation A6 three-box sedan, and the domestic version will still continue the naming of Audi A6L and form a two-car combination with the Audi A6 e-tron (the domestic version may be lengthened) that has been globally unveiled, In the future, the A6L in China will be a 'dual hero of oil and electricity', both 'refueling' and 'charging'. This shows that FAW Audi has made local considerations in the model naming to take advantage of the popularity accumulated by the Audi A6L in the domestic market.

TapTechNews noted that Audi's overseas market will adjust the naming rules of its models, and even-numbered names will become exclusive for pure electric vehicles. In the future, new Audi cars with odd numbers (such as A3, A5, A7) will still be equipped with traditional internal combustion engines, while new Audi cars with even numbers (such as A4, A6, A8) will be combined with the e-tron logo to represent pure electric sedans. The new Audi A5 conforms to this naming rule, while the fuel version of the domestic Audi A6L becomes an exception.
