Sinopec's 'Ten Thousand Stations Bathed in Light' Initiative for Photovoltaic Development

According to a report in the China Petrochemical News on the 18th, Sinopec officially launched the Ten Thousand Stations Bathed in Light initiative, planning to newly build approximately 10,000 photovoltaic stations in oil and gas mining areas, petrochemical industrial parks, and gas stations by 2027.

This initiative will support the cultivation of new technologies, models, and new forms of photovoltaic power generation, expand application scenarios, and focus on promoting technological progress, cost reduction, and efficiency improvement of photovoltaic power generation to facilitate large-scale and high-quality leapfrog development of photovoltaic power generation and provide strong support for the on-time achievement of Sinopec's carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.

Learned from Sinopec by TapTechNews, Sinopec will strengthen the construction of distributed photovoltaic projects in public areas, oil and gas mining areas, and sales enterprises, and continuously improve photovoltaic power generation capacity. Utilize building roofs, public works, and public areas to promote the development of photovoltaic + buildings and photovoltaic + public works distributed photovoltaic power generation; based on local consumption and absorption nearby, actively promote the distributed development of photovoltaic power in the oil region; fully utilize the roofs of gas stations (convenience stores) and logistics warehouse roofs, idle plots of oil depots, etc. to develop photovoltaic power generation projects, and promote the construction of photovoltaic carports in charging stations to create an optical storage and charging integrated mode.

In addition, Sinopec will also study and promote the construction of energy storage facilities, and actively promote the construction of user-side decentralized energy storage facilities such as uninterruptible power supplies and charging and swapping facilities. Develop and cultivate new energy storage businesses, carry out new energy storage pilot demonstrations, cooperate with the development of large projects, study the configuration technology, reasonable scale, and operation mode of new energy storage to support the large-scale delivery of new energy outside.
