Microsoft Xbox CMO Jerret West to Leave for Roblox

TapTechNews June 18 - According to TheVerge, Jerret West, the chief marketing officer of Microsoft Xbox, will leave Microsoft at the end of the month to take up the post of chief marketing officer and head of marketing expansion for the online creative game platform Roblox.

West's team is responsible for formulating marketing plans for games, hardware, and Xbox Game Pass. Phil Spencer, the chief executive officer of Microsoft Gaming, confirmed this news in an internal memo sent to Xbox employees.

Spencer said in the internal memo that due to West's departure, the Microsoft Gaming leadership team 'decided to bring the marketing department closer to the business they support'. Game marketing will now fall under the Game Content and Studios department led by Matt Booty.

West had been working in Microsoft's Xbox marketing department for eight years and left in 2011, then served as a marketing executive at Netflix for seven years before returning to Microsoft at the end of 2019 in charge of the marketing launch of the Xbox Series S/X consoles.

This is the second Xbox executive to resign this year. As previously reported by TapTechNews, Kareem Choudhry, the head of emerging technologies for Xbox, left Microsoft in early April.
