Two 'Cyber Water Army' Criminal Groups Busted in Quanzhou, Fujian
TapTechNews September 18th news, according to the Cyberspace Administration of the Ministry of Public Security, the cyber security department in Quanzhou, Fujian recently successfully dismantled 2 'cyber water army' criminal groups and arrested 12 criminal suspects.

Case One
Recently, the Quanzhou cyber security department found that there were illegal acts of brushing popularity and fans and creating false traffic on a certain live streaming platform. The Quanzhou cyber security department took the initiative to completely destroy a 'cyber water army' group that provided paid false popularity and fans in the live rooms for anchors, talents, and traffic studios on a certain live streaming platform, demolished three criminal dens, arrested 10 criminal suspects such as Su Mohuang, and seized 5 computers and 1200 mobile phones.
Upon investigation, since the beginning of 2024, in order to avoid crackdown, this group has set up several network technology companies as a cover, and has a clear division of labor, with different types of jobs such as supervisors, marketers, technicians, click farmers, and customer services. They used various social platforms to post advertisements for brushing traffic, purchased mobile phone walls and virtual traffic cards, and registered a large number of live streaming platform accounts. They stayed in the live rooms to brush the online number of people and gain false traffic by following fans to increase the popularity of the live stream, deceiving users and consumers. At the same time, they also used illegal software to grab lucky bags in the live rooms, seriously disrupting the fairness of the online ecological environment.
At present, the 10 criminal suspects have been legally taken criminal coercive measures, and the case is under further investigation.
Case Two
The Quanzhou cyber security department followed up the heat and, after careful investigation, on August 22nd, seized a cyber water army 'server room' in Quanzhou Fengze District, and on-site arrested 2 criminal suspects Zhong Moxiong and Xu Xibin, and on-site seized more than 300 mobile phones.
Upon investigation, since September 2023, the two have been engaged in cyber water army activities and provided paid water army services for others. After interrogation, Zhong Moxiong and Xu Xibin confessed to the criminal facts of suspected illegal business operations.
At present, the 2 criminal suspects have been legally taken criminal coercive measures, and the case is under further investigation.
The cyber police remind: The behavior of 'cyber water army' creating false popularity for businesses through 'brushing volume', 'controlling comments', and 'increasing fans' is common, which seriously endangers the online ecological environment and disrupts the normal market order and will surely be severely punished by law.
