Shenzhen Releases Measures to Support Virtual Power Plant Development

TapTechNews June 14th news, TapTechNews learned from the Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission that the 'Several Measures of Shenzhen to Support the Accelerated Development of Virtual Power Plants' was released yesterday.

The 'Several Measures' proposed to encourage the large-scale mass production of key equipment of virtual power plants. Encourage new energy vehicle OEMs to carry out technological innovation and open the vehicle-side V2G function. For industrialization projects of key core equipment of virtual power plants such as V2G charging piles, intelligent control terminals of distributed resources, collaborative operation management software of distributed resources, metering communication chip modules, and computing chips, after review, a single project will be supported with a maximum of not more than 1.5 million US dollars.

The 'Several Measures' also proposed to improve the intelligent and orderly charging capacity of charging facilities. Newly built charging infrastructure should have orderly charging capacity and comply with relevant local standards. Speed up the upgrade and transformation of DC public fast charging stations, improve the power adjustment ability of fast charging piles, after review, for the intelligent transformation part of the existing DC public fast charging stations, a single enterprise will be supported with a maximum of not more than 500,000 US dollars.

In addition, this document also proposed to 'improve the vehicle-grid bidirectional interaction ability'. For typical models such as buses, logistics, sanitation, and port tractors, facing parking-charging integrated scenarios such as industrial parks and social parking lots, increase the demonstration application and continuous upgrading of vehicle-grid interaction, and promote all supercharging, fast charging, and AC charging facilities in the city to realize the vehicle-grid interaction function, after review, for charging facilities with V2G function, a single enterprise will be supported with a maximum of not more than 500,000 US dollars.

V2G, that is, Vehicle-to-Grid (vehicle to the grid), also known as bidirectional inverter charging technology, that is, electric vehicles can not only obtain power from the grid for charging, but also feed the electric energy in the on-board battery back to the grid. Simply put, it is 'electric vehicles supply power to the grid'.
