5G Smartphones' Future Expected 67% Shipment Share in 2024

TapTechNews June 20th news, Canalys released a report titled The Future Development Path of 5G Smartphones, stating that as the 5G smartphone market matures, it is expected that by 2024, the shipment share of 5G smartphones will increase to 67%.

Since the shipment share of 5G smartphones exceeded 50% in 2022, the penetration has slowed down. From a global perspective, the development of 5G is still unbalanced.

The report points out that as the smartphone industry enters another cycle of rising component prices, manufacturers will once again assess the potential of 5G smartphones in under-penetrated markets and try to determine the best time to introduce 5G devices.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, there are 889 million 5G mobile phone users in China, and the user penetration rate has exceeded 60%. At the 2024 Mobile Communication High-Quality Development Forum held in June, Zhao Zhiguo, the chief engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that in the five years since the commercial use of 5G, 5G has directly driven an economic output of about 5.6 trillion yuan and indirectly driven a total output of about 14 trillion yuan.
