Sonos Company's Struggles with New App Version and Remedial Actions

TapTechNews August 15th news, technology media TheVerge reported today (August 15th) that the senior management of Sonos is working hard to address the large number of negative feedback caused by the new version of the App in May this year, discussing re-releasing the old version of the App.

TapTechNews checked the Google Play app store, and the rating of the new version of the Sonos App is 1.3 stars.

One of the focuses of the internal discussion among the senior management of Sonos, as reported, is to provide the old application program as a temporary solution. It is written in the report:

Allowing users to reuse the old software can reduce their frustration and at least relieve the pressure on Sonos to correct all the problems in the new version of the application. At least for now, the redesigned version is the only one available, which makes it impossible for some users to avoid its flaws.

Many problems in the new version in May

Sonos updated its application this week and introduced a customizable home screen to meet users' personalized auditory experience. However, after the new version of the application went online, it received a lot of negative evaluations from users, mainly because many functions were deleted and several BUGs were introduced.

The users' evaluation of the new version of the Sonos application is degeneration, removing functions such as editing the song queue, managing playlists, shuffling the music library, setting alarms and timers, and the new version runs slowly, the system control is difficult to use, and there is user feedback that the accessibility function is lacking.

Remedial measures

Sonos' official website released a blog post today, and the company's CEO, Patrick Spence, apologized in the article and promised to accelerate the improvement of the new version of the Sonos application in 2024.

We launched the new application on May 7th, and many users reported encountering serious problems after using it. On behalf of myself, I would like to express my apologies to you all.

I assure you that fixing the application for all our customers and partners has been and will continue to be our top priority.
