PetroChina's Ultra-Deep Drilling Well in Taklamakan Desert Sets New Record

TapTechNews August 7th news, CCTV News reported that an ultra-deep drilling well of PetroChina located on the edge of the Taklamakan Desert has completed the drilling task. The fastest one-day drilling reached 2006 meters (about 6581 feet) underground, creating a new daily footage record for onshore ultra-deep well drilling in China, marking a new breakthrough in China's ultra-deep well drilling speed-up technology.

The塔里木油田(The Tarim Oilfield) Ha13-H9 well that refreshed the record this time is located in Shaya County, Xinjiang, with a drilling well depth of 7341 meters (about 24085 feet).

TapTechNews noticed that this is the Tarim Oilfield twice refreshing the highest daily footage record within 10 days. Previously, the Yingxi 2 well drilled by the Tarim Oilfield achieved a daily footage of 1908 meters (about 6260 feet), and it only took 7 days to drill to 3118 meters.

Since this year, the Tarim Oilfield has accelerated the exploration and development of ultra-deep oil and gas in the Tarim Basin by comprehensively promoting drilling speed-up, and the drilling cycle has decreased by more than 20%, breaking China's ultra-deep well drilling records many times, and comprehensively accelerating the pace of realizing ultra-deep oil and gas resources.
