Beijing to Launch BEIJINGPASS for Foreign Passengers and Enhance Subway Services

TapTechNews July 31, according to the report of Beijing Daily today, in order to facilitate the travel of foreign passengers, Beijing plans to launch an international card of One Card Pass named BEIJINGPASS, and currently, the Beijing subway stations are conducting on-site tests to cooperate with its launch.

In the future, foreigners can use the BEIJINGPASS card to swipe through the gates and take the subway in Beijing. To cooperate with the smooth launch of the international card of One Card Pass BEIJINGPASS, on-site tests are being conducted in the subway stations, and it is expected to be sold to foreigners in the subway stations of Seven Stations and Two Airports (Beijing Railway Station, Beijing West Railway Station, Beijing South Railway Station, Beijing North Railway Station, Qinghe Station, Beijing Chaoyang Railway Station, Beijing Fengtai Railway Station, Capital International Airport, Daxing International Airport).

It is known that according to the unified deployment of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport, the Beijing Metro Company has piloted the configuration of multilingual translation machines in a total of 8 stations including Tiananmen West of Line 1 and Batong Line, Dongzhimen of Line 2, Beijing Railway Station of Line 2, Nanluogu Lane of Line 6, Olympic Park of Line 8, Xierqi of Line 13, Maquanying of Line 15, and Universal Resort of Line 1 and Batong Line and Line 7. Up to now, the translation machines have been used for more than a thousand times, and the stations with more usage are Tiananmen West Station and Dongzhimen Station.

Since June 1, the POS machines have been laid out in 335 stations of 17 lines under the jurisdiction of the Beijing Metro, and foreign passengers can use foreign bank cards to pay for tickets and rides through the POS machines. Recently, services such as swiping foreign cards such as Mastercard to pass through the gates, buying single tickets by swiping cards, and supplementing tickets will also be gradually realized.

TapTechNews also found that the SilkPass App developed by the Beijing Municipal One Card Pass Co., Ltd. has also been launched on the Apple App Store. This application can be used to recharge the physical Beijing Tong Card and activate the Beijing Tong NFC Card. Users can use the Beijing Tong Card to pay for travel, shopping or dining expenses without having to exchange cash.
