Volvo EX90 Starts Mass Production in US

TapTechNews June 5th, Volvo Cars just announced that the Volvo EX90 has now started mass production at its factory located outside Charleston, South Carolina, US, and plans to deliver the first batch of products to customers in the second half of this year.

According to the official introduction, this factory is Volvo's first manufacturing plant in the US, and Charleston is also one of the oldest and most historical cities in the US. Now, the Charleston factory is already producing two models, the EX90 and the S60, with an annual production capacity of up to 150,000 vehicles.

Volvo Cars also announced on Tuesday that it will introduce the world's first electric vehicle battery passport in the EX90. This solution was jointly developed by Volvo and the UK-based start-up Circulor over five years. Using blockchain technology, the battery passport will provide purchasers with various information about the battery of their vehicle, such as battery composition, material source, recycled material content, and carbon footprint.

Currently, the starting price of the new Volvo EX90 in the US is 77,000 US dollars (TapTechNews note: about 558,000 RMB at present), and all models are equipped with a 111 kWh battery, and the maximum range can reach 600 kilometers. Consumers can also choose a six-seat or seven-seat layout.
