Zhou Jiahai, director of the Research Office of the Supreme People's Court and a first-class senior judge, disclosed when being interviewed that after entering the Internet era, the number of disputes related to the Internet has significantly increased. Take online shopping disputes as an example, in the past five years that is, from 2018 to 2023, the number of online shopping disputes has increased by 2.5 times.

The Supreme People's Court has gradually realized the transfer of offline trials to online through 'three steps':

The first step is to establish three Internet courts in Hangzhou, Beijing and Guangzhou to explore 'online disputes being tried online', and simultaneously explore the'mobile micro-court' on the mobile phone side.

The second step is to formulate judicial interpretations to promote online litigation to all courts across the country, not limited to the three Internet courts.

The third step is to promote the amendment of the 'Civil Procedure Law' to make the online litigation model have the same legal effect as the offline litigation.

According to the official live text learned by TapTechNews, in 2023, the number of cases accepted by courts across the country has exceeded 45 million, among which 30% are filed online, and more than half of the legal documents are served online, greatly improving the efficiency of judicial trials.

In addition, the people's courts are also constantly exploring and promoting the in-depth integration of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain with judicial work, striving to use the new productive forces to promote the modernization of judicial work. Currently, the people's courts are stepping up the construction of digital courts and strive to achieve that more than 3,500 courts across the country can handle cases and conduct office work on 'one network' by the end of this year, promoting further improvement in the quality and efficiency of judicial work and litigation services.
