Chinese and Myanmar Police Jointly Crack Down on Telecom Network Fraud

Recently, the Ministry of Public Security dispatched a working group to strengthen law enforcement cooperation with the Myanmar side. For the first time, a joint crackdown was carried out in Yangon, Mandalay and other places, successfully capturing 20 leaders and key members of the telecom network fraud criminal group such as Chen Wei and Yang, and escorting the 20 major criminal suspects transferred by the Myanmar side back to the country by chartered civil aviation flights. This operation is another major achievement of the police law enforcement cooperation between China and Myanmar.

For a long time, people like Chen Wei and Yang have been attached to criminal groups such as the Four Big Families in Kokang, northern Myanmar, and Xu Laofa, etc. Controlling armed forces and setting up telecom fraud dens, they have crazily carried out telecom network fraud criminal activities against Chinese citizens, and are also suspected of multiple serious violent crimes such as intentional homicide and intentional injury. The criminal circumstances are extremely bad and the social harm is extremely great, which is deeply hated by the people. With the devastating blow to criminal groups such as the Four Big Families in northern Myanmar, 20 criminal leaders and key members such as Chen Wei and Yang fled to Yangon, Mandalay and other places. After the China-Myanmar sides mastered the relevant clues, they carefully formulated a work plan and successfully implemented a centralized arrest, capturing all the above-mentioned criminal suspects in one fell swoop. At present, the relevant local public security organs have escorted them back respectively to carry out case investigation work.

The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Public Security said that telecom network fraud crime is a global problem of combating and governing that we all face. Strengthening international law enforcement cooperation is the general trend. This operation has further promoted the normalization of the China-Myanmar joint combat mechanism.
