BYD Unveils TANK Z9GT Plug-in Hybrid Model at Beijing Auto Show

TechNews reported on May 12th that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently released the 383rd batch of 'Road Motor Vehicle Production Enterprises and Products Announcement' new product announcement, featuring the appearance of the TANK Z9GT plug-in hybrid model, with the pure electric version already unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show.

According to the declaration information, the dimensions of this new car are 5195/1990/1500 (1480) millimeters in length, width, and height, with a 3125mm wheelbase, an increase of 15mm in length compared to the pure electric version while keeping everything else consistent. The car comes standard with a panoramic sunroof, electric tail wing, and optional features include three laser radars, different colored brake calipers, wheel rims, front/rear carbon fiber decorative pieces, and air suspension.

In terms of power, the TANK Z9GT plug-in hybrid is equipped with a power system composed of a 2.0T engine and three electric drive motors, with the 2.0T engine having a maximum power of 152 kW, the front motor with a maximum power of 200 kW, and both rear left and right motors with a maximum power of 220 kW each.

TechNews learned from previously released official information that the BYD TANK Z9GT will hold a technical briefing in May, with the new car expected to be launched in the middle of the year. It is currently unclear whether the plug-in hybrid version will be released together with the pure electric version.

The exterior design of the TANK Z9GT continues to be designed by BYD Group's design director Wolfgang Egger, with the front named '日冕' and the taillights called '时光沙漏'.

The pure electric version of the TANK Z9GT will feature the CTB battery integrated body technology, offering multiple optional laser radar configurations and the 'God's Eye' advanced intelligent driving assistance system. Zhao Changjiang, General Manager of the TANK Sales Division, stated that the new car will be the first to come equipped with the Yitri technology platform globally, which is capable of independently driving three motors and innovatively steering the rear wheels, accommodating both electric and hybrid technologies.
