Cyberspace Administration of China's Report on Internet Information in May 2024

TapTechNews Jun 7th, according to an announcement by the Cyberspace Administration of China today. In May 2024, the Reporting Center of the Cyberspace Administration of China guided various levels of cyber reporting departments across the country and major online platforms to accept 20.191 million pieces of illegal and bad information such as pornographic, gambling, infringement, and rumors reported by netizens, with a month-on-month increase of 0.6% and a year-on-year increase of 21.7%.

Among them, the Reporting Center of the Cyberspace Administration of China received 374,000 reports, a month-on-month decrease of 12.3% and a year-on-year decrease of 21%; local cyber reporting work departments received 1.239 million reports, a month-on-month decrease of 18% and a year-on-year increase of 89.1%; major online platforms across the country received 18.579 million reports, a month-on-month increase of 2.4% and a year-on-year increase of 20.1%. Of the reports received by major online platforms across the country, the amount received by major commercial online platforms accounted for 92.3%, reaching 17.146 million.

TapTechNews has learned through inquiry that for comparison, in April this year, the Reporting Center of the Cyberspace Administration of China guided various levels of cyber reporting departments across the country and major online platforms to accept 20.078 million pieces of illegal and bad information such as pornographic, gambling, infringement, and rumors reported by netizens, with a month-on-month increase of 8.3% and a year-on-year increase of 14%.
