ARJ21 Aircraft's 'Around the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau' Demonstration Flight Kicks Off

TapTechNews August 21st news, according to CCTV News report, on August 21st, an ARJ21 aircraft of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China took off from Shuangliu International Airport in Chengdu, Sichuan, and after a 50-minute flight, successfully arrived at Hongyuan Airport in Aba, Sichuan, marking the official kick-off of the more than one-month ARJ21 aircraft's 'Around the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau' demonstration flight.

According to the arrangement, during this demonstration flight, the ARJ21 aircraft will take Chengdu, Sichuan, Xining, Qinghai and Lhasa, Tibet as the operating bases, flying to many high-altitude plateau airports in Tibet, Sichuan, Qinghai and Gansu (TapTechNews note: airports with an elevation of more than 8000 feet are called high-altitude plateau airports), fully verifying the adaptability of the ARJ21 aircraft to high-altitude plateau airports and plateau routes, the adaptability of airport ground service equipment and the applicability of special flight procedures, to better and more comprehensively meet the operational requirements in high-altitude areas.

TapTechNews inquiry learned that the ARJ21 new regional aircraft is China's first medium-short-range new turbofan regional jetliner independently developed in accordance with international civil aviation regulations and with independent intellectual property rights, with a seat class of 78-97 seats and a range of 1380-2300 miles. It obtained the type certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China on December 30, 2014, and the production license from the Civil Aviation Administration of China on July 9, 2017.
