The electronic visa (E-visa) digitizes the traditional paper visa, and the visa information is stored digitally and issued to the applicant in the form of an electronic document. There is no need to stick a paper visa on the passport, and the applicant can enter and stay with the passport and electronic visa.

TapTechNews noted that the electronic port visa is valid for a single entry, the entry validity period is 15 days, and the stay period does not exceed 30 days. The entry port is all open ports in Shanghai, and the exit port is any open port in the country.

Inviting units that have been reviewed and filed by the Management Committee of the Lingang New Area of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone (currently more than 1,300 enterprise units) can log in to the e-government platform of the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau to submit visa application information on behalf of the applicant. The electronic port visa is handled entirely online and has the same legal effect as the paper visa.

The Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau can issue F-visa (visit), M-visa (business), R-visa (talent), Z-visa (work) and S2-visa (private affairs) electronic port visas for foreigners who meet the conditions for handling port visas according to the procedures.
