Shenzhen Bus Group to Launch 20 Self-Driving Buses in 2024 in Qianhai

TapTechNews July 16th news, on the 14th, the Shenzhen Bus Group announced its plan to promote 20 self-driving buses in Qianhai, Shenzhen in 2024. The operation scenarios will cover subway stations, business districts, residential areas, central business districts, industrial parks, cultural and tourism scenic spots, etc.

TapTechNews noted that the Shenzhen Bus Group has obtained the qualification for intelligent connected vehicle manned demonstration application in Shenzhen, and the Fifth Branch has been approved to open and operate four self-driving bus lines such as the B998 line, and the above lines will be opened in the near future, and free reservation for riding during the pilot period.

The first line will adopt a brand-new 6-meter 9-seat new energy self-driving minibus, and the body painting will be carried out with the design concept of 'Shenzhen-Hong Kong elements, Qianhai characteristics', with the words 'Qianhai Self-Driving Bus' printed.

The vehicle is equipped with high-definition on-board cameras, millimeter-wave radar and lidar, which can accurately perceive the surrounding vehicles, pedestrians, non-motor vehicles and road conditions changes ; the interior is configured with an intelligent interactive display screen, which can display in real time the information of the surrounding traffic participants and the vehicle's self-driving status sensed by the vehicle's sensors, as well as the vehicle's planned driving route.

The whole vehicle has a complete self-driving function in technology, all the driving operations of the vehicle do not require personnel intervention, and is equipped with 'one vehicle, one shift, one safety officer' according to the requirements of the 'Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Intelligent Connected Vehicle Management Regulations', and has manual mode and corresponding emergency takeover measures.
