China's Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Railway Enters Operation Test Stage

TapTechNews August 16th news, the China State Railway Group announced today that at 9:10 am today, the 55941 inspection train departed from Chongqing West Railway Station to test the functions of line operation, passenger transportation and other equipment.

The Chongqing-West to Yibin-East section of the Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Railway (hereinafter referred to as the Yu-Kun High-Speed Railway Yu-Yi section) officially entered the operation test stage.

The Yu-Kun High-Speed Railway Yu-Yi section is located in Chongqing City and Sichuan Province, with 8 stations including Chongqing West, Jiulongpo, Jiangjin North, Yongchuan South, Luzhou East, Luzhou, Nanxi, and Yibin East, among which Chongqing West, Luzhou and Yibin East are existing stations, and the other stations are newly built stations, and Jiulongpo is a reserved station.

TapTechNews learned that this section started construction in December 2020, the main line track laying was completed in February 2024, entered the joint commissioning and test stage on June 21, and entered the operation test stage on August 16.

The Yu-Kun High-Speed Railway is an important part of China's 'Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal' high-speed railway network Beijing-Kunming passage. The line starts from Chongqing West Railway Station, passes through Chongqing City, Sichuan Province, Guizhou Province and Yunnan Province, and connects to Kunming South Railway Station.

The Yu-Kun High-Speed Railway is 699 miles long and has a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, and a total of 21 stations are planned and set up. After the whole line is completed and opened to traffic, the fastest travel time from Chongqing to Kunming will be shortened from the current 5 hours to about 2 hours.
