TapTechNews learned that Hong Kong residents and mainland tourists visiting Hong Kong can scan the payment QR code of the Octopus mobile payment terminal with WeChat to pay in Hong Kong dollars and Renminbi respectively, without paying any handling fee. Hong Kong taxi drivers enter the fare of the trip in the commercial version of the Octopus App, and the Octopus mobile payment terminal will display the amount and the payment QR code. Currently, there are 25,000 taxi drivers who receive payments through the commercial version of the Octopus App.

In Hong Kong locally:

Except for the taxi travel scenario, in many transportation scenarios such as MTR, Kowloon Bus, Long Win Bus, Citybus, Hong Kong Tramways, New Lantao Bus, Star Ferry, users can scan the code to ride conveniently through WeChatPayHK.

In mainland cities:

In the high-speed rail, cross-border bus, cross-border ferry, online car-hailing, taxi and other scenarios for the Hong Kong people going north, users can easily buy tickets or pay transportation expenses.

In the public transportation scenarios of nearly 30 mainland cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, users can also open the bus or subway ride codes of the corresponding cities and then scan the code to ride conveniently without queuing to buy tickets.
