Apple iOS Third-Party App Store AltStorePAL Cancel Subscription Fee Thanks to EpicGames

TapTechNews August 15th news, the Apple iOS third-party app store AltStorePAL in the EU region announced the cancellation of its annual subscription fee of 1.5 euros (TapTechNews note: currently about 11.8 Chinese yuan). This decision benefits from the funding provided by EpicGames, the developer of 'Fortnite'.

Previously, AltStorePAL charged an annual fee to pay Apple's Core Technology Fee (CTF), which is the fee that Apple charges for each application installed by a third-party app store. EpicGames supports potential projects through the 'MegaGrants' program, usually for small teams using Epic technology, and this funding for AltStorePAL is due to its performance in 'application distribution innovation'.

AltStorePAL did not disclose the specific amount of funding, stating that existing subscribers will be exempt from the fee when renewing and plans to give back to existing subscribers in future updates.

EpicGames is currently also developing the iOS version of the EpicGamesStore and announced earlier this week that it has submitted the final notarization application for the store, the game 'Fortnite', and 'Rocket League: Sideswipe' to Apple.
