During the Paris Olympics, the 142nd IOC Session will be held in Paris, and a series of important proposals will be voted on at this meeting, including holding the esports Olympics. IOC President Thomas Bach said in an online press conference that day: The IOC is following in the footsteps of the digital revolution and taking an important step forward. This proposal will bring a boom to the esports industry, and we are also very happy.

In the meeting that day, the IOC Executive Board emphasized that the esports Olympics should be carried out under a brand new framework, and the model of the traditional Olympics cannot be simply followed in terms of organization and operation.

It is reported that the esports Olympics will be based on the Olympic Esports Week held in Singapore last year. This competition received the support of the IOC and lasted for a week, combining the physical simulation of Olympic sports with traditional esports games. The IOC said that among the viewers of the Singapore event, 75% are between 13 and 34 years old.

According to previous reports by TapTechNews, Bach revealed at the Winter Youth Olympics in Gangwon, South Korea in January this year that he is considering holding the first Olympic Esports Games in 2025 or at the latest in 2026.
