Shanghai Hino Engine to Cease Production on September 30th

TapTechNews September 15th news, Shanghai Hino Engine Co., Ltd. released a notice on September 13th, deciding to halt production on September 30th.

Shanghai Hino Engine Co., Ltd. was established in 2003, with Hino investing 70% and Guangzhou Automobile Group investing 30%. The company adopts Hino technical standards and management models to produce P11 and J series diesel engines for vehicles and engineering and related products.

According to the Nikkei Chinese website report, the sales volume of Shanghai Hino Engine in 2023 is only 1874 units, less than 10% of the peak.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, the production and sales data of Guangzhou Automobile Group's Guangzhou Hino Automobile Co., Ltd. have been classified as others in the production and sales bulletin data for August 2024.

In the other category, 61 vehicles were produced in August, a year-on-year decrease of 90.22%, and a total of 1466 vehicles were produced from January to August this year, a year-on-year decrease of 92.96%; in terms of sales, 49 new vehicles were sold in August, a year-on-year decrease of 95.47%, and a total of 4188 new vehicles were sold from January to August, a year-on-year decrease of 83.11%.
